Art Hjerpe is a Swedish artist based in Munkfors, Värmland. His oil paintings are deeply inspired by the forests, lakes and hidden places of the Swedish landscape.
Much of the inspiration comes from time spent in nature — following streams through the forest, fishing remote lakes and experiencing the changing light of late evenings. These environments form the foundation of paintings where reality often meets folklore, fantasy and imagination.
Forests, water and light are recurring elements, sometimes accompanied by trolls, mysterious figures and other beings that seem to belong to the landscape. The aim is not simply to depict nature, but to capture the sense of calm, mystery and wonder that can be found within it.
Working primarily in oil, Hjerpe builds his paintings through layers of colour, light and atmosphere. His background in music also influences his visual work, particularly the sense of storytelling and mood within each painting.
Since his exhibition at Laxholmen in Munkfors in 2022, his work has been shown in several exhibitions in Värmland as well as in Stockholm. Through exhibitions, social media, YouTube and an international audience connected to his music, his paintings have reached collectors both in Sweden and abroad.
